(Corrections for this article: After the sentence on Lt. Whidbey, all other names are credited to Whidbey rather than Vancouver. Plus, Whidbey is credited as the Captain of Vancouver’s ship Discovery. Point Roberts was named after Vancouver’s friend, not Whidbey’s friend.)
